As hard as it is to believe, the Wisconsin high school football regular season ends this Friday.

Several local teams have a lot to play for, including Logan (3-5, 3-3), if its able to knock off Central in the 76th annual Battle for the Ark of Victory game Friday night.

Coverage on WKTY begins at 6:50 p.m. with Drew Kelly and Tyler Bailke on the call.

Central (7-1, 5-1), which already clinched a playoff spot, has won the Ark 4 of the last 5 meetings, with the lone loss coming in the spring of 2021 when both teams played a reduced schedule due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Weather reports call for rain throughout the night, meaning the Rangers will likely rely on their ground attack they’ve had success with all year long.

In last week’s win over Holmen, Johnny Leaver, who has been used as an offensive utility for the Rangers, ran for 204 yards and two touchdowns, threw for 57 yards and also caught a 14-yard touchdown.

Central won a defensive slugfest last week over Sparta 15-8, and is looking to improve its playoff seed.

The Riverhawks have won four consecutive games, since a last-second loss to Onalaska in Week 4.

Reedsburg at Holmen

The Holmen Vikings no longer control their own fate for the 2023 playoffs, but with a win they could still sneak in.

The Vikings (2-6, 2-4) needed to win the last two games of the season to clinch a playoff berth, but last week’s 49-14 loss to Logan leaves them in a position to need other teams in a similar circumstance to lose.

Quarterback Noah Ertz continues to lead the team in rushing with 477 yards and 7 touchdowns.

The Vikings will play Reedsburg (1-7, 0-6) whose lone win came in week 1, a 28-0 shutout of River Valley.

Covergage will begin at 6:45 with Teague Fenwick on the call.
