Several area teams were in action in level 1 of the high school football playoffs on Friday night.

Holmen 36, Watertown 10

It was a battle of styles in No. 3-vs.-5-seed matchup. The Vikings rushing attack got back on track after a couple weeks of struggling with four touchdown runs. Two of those came from fullback Brett Holden, which finished with 353 yards. Holmen’s defense also forced two interceptions by and added a safety. The Vikings face No. 1-seed Hartford on Friday.

Monroe 31, Onalaska 30

Up against the seventh seed, the No. 2 seeded Hilltoppers had over 400 yards of offense and forced more turnovers than Monroe, but couldn’t overcome mistakes on special teams. Onalaska had five touchdowns offensively the  last with just under two minutes left. The Hilltoppers, however, missed two extra points and had three failed two-point conversions. Quarterback Austin Larson threw for 390 yards with three touchdowns. Landon Peterson and Hudson Weber both had more than 100 yards receiving and Nathan Lubinski had over 100 yards and two touchdowns. The Hilltoppers season ended at 8-2.
