The WKTY Game of the Week for the last week in the Wisconsin high school football season will be the Holmen Vikings rolling into Onalaska to take on the Hilltoppers.

Onalaska is 7-1 on the season, and could clinch the MVC title outright with a win, or a victory by 6-2 Holmen win would for a three way tie for first.

Recent history has not been kind to Onalaska in this matchup, as the Vikings have won nine of the last ten games.

Hilltoppers head coach Tom Yashinsky however thinks they have bigger fish to fry.

“We talk about it as giving ourselves a better road once we get to the playoffs.” Yashinsky said. “It’s not just about rivalries or conference championships. We want to extend our season.”

Onalaska has given up just 10 points per game this year and their strength offensively has been balance.

Senior quarterback Austin Larson has thrown for 19 touchdowns compared to just 2 interceptions.

Despite their reputation in past years as an arial attack, the Hilltoppers have rushed for 60 more yards than passing, led by running back Nathan Lubinsky with over 1,100 yards.

The Vikings hope to rebound from a difficult 25-20 loss to Sparta last week. Holmen had three turnovers, and have committed 8 turnovers total in their two losses.

Both teams are in position to receive home games in level one next week.

Coverage begins on WKTY at 6:50 with the pregame show. Drew Kelly and Grant Bilse will have the call at 7PM.

You can listen live on 96.7 FM and 580AM, or stream video of the contest on our WKTY App and here
