It’s been a whirlwind 10 days for the UW-La Crosse men’s basketball team.
During that span, the Eagles (12-5 overal, 5-1 WIAC) blew out then-No. 14 UW-Whitewater (13-4, 2-4), edged ninth-ranked UW-Stevens Point (11-5, 3-3) on the road and lost by six at UW-Oshkosh (16-1, 6-0), which is ranked now ranked fourth in Division III.
Tonight, record wise, it appears to be a break in the schedule at home against UW-River Falls (8-9, 1-5).
UW-L junior guard Luke Norcia points out, there are no breaks.
“Even though we played these three teams who are all ranked, now we play River Falls, and they’re a team that just lost by two to Whitewater, so it’s not like things are getting any easier for us,” he said. “Every team in conference is a tough team. So, we actually know that we don’t have a break, really.”
It’s hard to tell if never having time to take it all in is a good thing or not, as the Eagles can’t get off the roller coaster — but that’s college basketball.
“You get pretty much three days in between each game,” Norcia said. “So, we don’t have much time after a win to celebreate and you don’t have much time after a loss to be down. You gotta just come back for the next game.”
The Eagles are currently just outside the Top 25 heading into tonight’s road matchup.
Meanwhile, the the UW-L women are ranked, heading into tonight’s matchup at River Falls. The Eagles are No. 22 in Division III with a 15-2 record.
