UW-La Crosse football team’s attitude still positive after UW-Whitewater loss
It’s been a tough start to the season for the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse football team.
Expected to continue its success off of an 8-2 season last year, the Eagles have started 2-2.
UW-L had a 7-3 lead Saturday home against UW-Whitewater, but watched that turn into a 30-7 loss.
Coach Mike Schmidt, on WKTY’s Eye on the Eagles, said Wednesday the season is far from over.
“Who’s played a tougher schedule than us the last three weeks?” Schmidt asked. “That last three weeks span, we come out of it 1-2, not 0-3 but 1-2, and, we got a shot here. I think, for a lot of our guys, it’s trying to keep that in perspective.
The Eagles have been outscored 90-27 in the second half this season. That’s been the theme that has to change Schmidt said.
“We’ve gotta sustain some offensive drives, as well, and get ourselves going a little bit,” he said.
UW-L continues WIAC play at 2 p.m. Saturday at UW-Stout, which can be heard on WKTY 96.7 FM / 580 AM.
