On this date in sports history Mario Lemieux (Pittsburgh Penguins) played what was billed as his last NHL game. He later came out of retirement to play for the Penguins as an owner/player.
Take a look back at what an appreciative crowd the Flyers are (surprising for a Philly team) and just imagine how pissed they were when he came back 44 months later on December 27th, 2000. All those cheers for nothing?
