What’s on the table today?: Bucks at Mavericks betting preview
Tonight on WKTY the Milwaukee Bucks conclude their 6 game road trip with a date in Dallas to take on the Mavs.
The Bucks are coming into this evening’s game having just lost 122-121 to the Golden State Warriors on Tuesday night. It was the second consecutive game Giannis has sat out to deal with his knee issue. Giannis is listed as Day-to-Day right now, which is probably why the Bucks are only favored by a single point (-1) in Vegas books, and now (-1) at most off-shore sites.
Dallas will be entering tonight’s match-up fresh from a bad beat on the road in Houston to a Rockets team that notched just it’s 3rd win in their last 23 games. To say the Mavs will be looking to get the taste out of their mouth from such a bad loss is probably an understatement, which makes a play on tonight’s game for the Bucks (-1) a little tricky…especially not knowing if Giannis will play or not.
However, there are some VERY good trends and stats that will help us make a play on tonight’s game, and one that doesn’t force you to bet against the Bucks. The play tonight should be on the total (226), which opened at 228 ½, taking the OVER 226.
Milwaukee is the highest scoring team in the NBA this season putting up 119.3 points per night, .3 more than the next closest team the Brooklyn Nets who average 119 a contest. The Mavericks are also a decent scoring team, although not as much recently, averaging 111.4. The Bucks have scored more than 120 points in 4 of their last five and if recent indications hold true, Milwaukee should be shooting at will against a Mavericks team that does play good, but not great defense, leading me to believe the OVER 226 is a very solid play tonight.
There are also some strong trends (Covers.com) that indicate that tonight’s best play isn’t on the spread, but on the total. Check these out!
Bucks recent trends OVER/UNDER
- Over is 22-4 in Bucks last 26 vs. a team with a winning straight up record.
- Over is 7-2 in Bucks last 9 after allowing 100 points or more in their previous game.
- Over is 7-2 in Bucks last 9 games following a ATS loss.
- Over is 7-2 in Bucks last 9 games as a favorite.
- Over is 10-4 in Bucks last 14 overall.
Good luck and hey, if Giannis does suit up, or even if he doesn’t, and you still want to make a play ATS, take a look at an in-game wager on the first half where a ton of books are now (at the time of this writing) giving you a Pick Em opportunity…that’s tasty too!!
