WIAA state girls basketball tourney set for Aquinas, Arcadia, Bangor and Mel.-Min.
The Coulee Region will be well represented at the WIAA girls state basketball tournament in Green Bay, Wis. this week.
In Division 3, unranked Arcadia (23-3) will play No. 1 ranked and top-seeded Platteville (25-0) at 1:35 p.m. Thursday at the Resch Center to open the tourney.
In Division 4, defending state champions, top-ranked Aquinas (24-1) earned the No. 1 seed and will play 10th-ranked Crandon (21-4) at 6:35 p.m. Thursday.
Right after that, on the other half of the bracket, No. 2 seeded and third-ranked Melrose-Mindoro (25-1) will battle No. 4-ranked Mishicot (23-3).
Aquinas defeated M-M for the state championship the past two season.
In Division 5, No. 3-ranked and third-seeded Bangor (25-1) plays at 11 a.m. against second-ranked Clear Lake (26-0).
The championship games will be Saturday.
