Mike Schmidt will be named the new coach for the Northern State University football team.

Schmidt was 27-13 the past four seasons at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, his almamater.

Northern State fired its past head coach after a 6-5 season.

The news comes just days after UW-L quarterback Evan Lewandowski announced he was leaving UW-L to entering the transfer portal.
