Central boys hoops opens No. 2, Onalaska fourth in AP poll

In the first AP poll of the season, the Central High School boys basketball team opened ranked No. 2 in Division 2.

The Red Raiders (8-1, 2-0 MVC), winners of four in a row, could be tested tonight in hosting Sparta (9-3, 2-1). The 7 p.m. game will be featured on WKTY 96.7 FM / 580 AM.

Central is second in the conference behind Onalaska (9-1, 3-), which opened ranked fourth in the polls. The Hilltoppers are at Tomah (2-6, 0-1) tonight.

In Division 5, two area teams opened in the Top 10. Bangor (8-1, 3-0) is ranked fifth, while Blair-Taylor (9-0, 3-0) is tied for sixth.
