Wade meets with Bucks but don’t get your hopes up

Former Marquette star likely using
Milwaukee as pawn to get paid in Miami

The meeting between the Bucks and Dwayne Wade is over and it doesn’t look like the 34-year-old will be heading to Milwaukee.

“Nothing has changed with Bucks salary situation so Wade not expected to land in Milwaukee,” the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel’s Charles Gardner tweeted. “But Marc Lasry did meet with Heat star in NYC.”

The money doesn’t work and, more importantly, all this seems to just to be posturing by Wade to get more money out of the Miami Heat.

Since the Bucks have agreed to sign Matthew Dellavedova (four years, $38.4 million) and Mirza Teletovic (three years, $30 million) – which can first officially happen Thursday – they are almost capped out.

Wade, a Marquette University star, apparently wants a two-year deal for at least $50 million.

So, for the Bucks to sign the Chicago native, they would need to likely trade Greg Monroe, whose owed nearly $35 million over the next two seasons. They haven’t.

The Bucks probably took the meeting because Wade publicly expressed interesting in playing for Milwaukee (see Marquette blurb earlier). Therefore forcing the Bucks to take a meeting or look bad to their fan base for not trying to bring back the hometown hero.

The Heat have offered Wade $40 million over two years, but apparently have soured after his actions of late – or lack thereof – in regards to the team trying to land Kevin Durant.

But, when it’s all said and done, the Heat haven’t signed any other major free agents, and the two are fighting over a measly $10 million – $5 million a year. Something the team can easily do and likely will, though Wade using the public and these other teams – he’s still meeting with Denver and Chicago – as pawns in his trying to get paid.
