
Aquinas loses to Seymour in state baseball
The Aquinas Blugolds season ended on Wednesday morning with a 5-2 loss to Seymour in the Division 2 semifinals in WIAA State Baseball.
They played the first game of the Wednesday schedule Neuroscience Group Field at Fox Cities Stadium in Grand Chute.
After Seymour scored one run in the top of the second inning, the Blugolds came back to tie the game when Isaac Schelfhout scored from third on a wild pitch. Waylon Hargrove advanced to third on the same play. Two batters later, Ryan Johnson hit a fly to center field that was deep enough to score Hargrove.
Seymour tied the game at two apiece in the top of the third.
They took the lead and built on it with a run in the fifth and two more in the sixth inning.
Starting Blugold pitcher Waylon Hargrove gave up 11 hits and all five runs in the loss while striking out three.
Aquinas got one hit, the one that put Schelfhout on base in the second inning, then was held without a hit until the sixth inning and one more in the seventh.
The Blugolds finish the season at 23-4.
