
Local Boys teams still in hunt in sectionals
Several area teams can move one step closer to a trip to the WIAA State Boys Basketball Tournament with a win on Thursday night.
There are four games on the schedule that feature teams from the area. Games are at 7 p.m.
Division 2’s Onalaska is coming off a 80-67 win over Mosinee to take on West Salem, who went to double overtime to come away with a 66-58 win over Central on Saturday.
They pair up at Logan’s gym.
In Division 4, Aquinas plays Luther at Central with the winner advancing to the sectional championship on Saturday.
There are two games in Division 5 in this round of the sectionals.
North Crawford and Royall play at Prairie du Chien. The Trojans knocked off #1 seed Potosi 66-59 to get to this Thursday’s game. The Panthers got by Highland in overtime to advance to the next round.
The other game features Cochrane-Fountain City versus Columbus Catholic. The Pirates downed Loyal 57-43 on Saturday while the Dons won by ten, 50-40, over Alma Center Lincoln. The game is at Osseo-Fairchild.
Winners on Thursday night move to the sectional championship on Saturday afternoon with those winners making the trip to the Kohl Center for the state tournament.
