Mark Murphy named to Packers Hall of Fame —to be inducted a month after mandatory retirement
Green Bay Packers president/CEO Mark Murphy will be inducted in the team’s Hall of Fame next year.
Unveiling Murphy’s name to the Lambeau Field atrium will take place during a ceremony Aug. 28, 2025 — a month after he hits the mandatory retirement age of 70.
Murphy took over for the Packers Dec. 3, 2007 and over those 17 years helped get Green Bay to the playoffs 12 times, including eight in a row — a team record from 2009-2016. Those trips included five NFC title games and the XLV Super Bowl title.
Murphy was an All-Pro safety, who won a Super Bowl in Washington. He worked extensively with the NFL Players Association before transitioning to college athletics, serving as the athletic director at his alma mater, Colgate, then Northwestern.
When he took the Packers job, he quickly felt an immediate connection to the area.
“That’s been one of the best parts of my job,” Murphy told Packers.com. “To see the thousands of people who come out, it really gives you a sense of how special the support that we get from our fans. The connection that our fans have to the Packers is pretty unique and I think a lot of it goes back to our ownership structure.”
Murphy will be replaced by chief operating officer and general counsel, Ed Policy, in July.
