Coach Matt Janus explains when the UW-L football bus pulls into Chipotle
Had some fun on WIZM’s La Crosse Talk with UW-L football coach Matt Janus, the day before their home-opener. Asked him about that 18-hour road trip to New York and what it’s like for others when they stop to eat and 100 Division III football players walk into a restaurant.
La Crosse Talk airs weekdays at 6-9 a.m. Listen on the WIZM app, online here, or on 92.3 FM / 1410 AM / 106.7 FM (north of Onalaska). Find all the podcasts here or subscribe to La Crosse Talk PM wherever you get your podcasts.
We also talked a bit about his playing days at UW-Platteville, where he was a linebacker. That led to a conversation about his all-conference linebacker, Westby native Ryan Daines. Last thing we hit on were his dual threats at quarterback and the wide receiver, nicknamed ‘The Alien,” who had a highlight-reel one-handed touchdown catch in Week 1.
Lastly, we asked Janus how many times he thinks they might set an attendance record this season. The Eagles, who host Division II Northern Michigan on Saturday — which can be seen on WKTY — set the record last season with over 5,000 fans.
