UW-La Crosse baseball season ends a win away from back-to-back trips to College World Series
The 15th-ranked UW-La Crosse baseball team was a win away from back-to-back trips to the College World Series.
Up against fifth-ranked UW-Whitewater in a best-of-3 matchup, the Eagles won the first game 3-2 on Friday, but dropped the next two Saturday, 8-0 and 8-2.
The Warhawks (40-9) end up 6-2 against UW-L this season.
The Eagles opening victory tied a school record for wins in a season at 36-16.
Last season, UW-L beat UW-Stevens Point in the super regional to get to the College World series, where it went 0-2 in being eliminated.
The Eagles have made three trips to the College World Series. The other two came in 2015 and 2016. They finished runners-up in 2015.
