Viterbo volleyball two wins away from National Championship
The Viterbo University women’s volleyball team is two wins away from a National Championship.
The fifth-ranked V-Hawks (34-4) take on No. 1- ranked Northwestern (30-2) at 5 p.m. Monday in the NAIA semifinals. The championship will be Tuesday night.
These two teams have already met this season, with the Raiders getting a 3-2 (25-20, 18-25, 25-21, 24-26, 15-12) win back on Sept. 26.
Viterbo hasn’t been to the semifinals since it went in three consecutive season in 2017, ’18 and ’19. The V-Hawks have never been to the NAIA championship.
In four tournament matches, so far, Viterbo has lost just one set. The V-Hawks beat No. 12 Midland 3-1 in the quarterfinals on Saturday.
On the other half of the bracket, second-ranked Indiana Wesleyan (36-0) takes on No. 3 Eastern Oregon (34-1).
