No. 11 UW-La Crosse women’s soccer to host 1st two rounds of NCAA tourney
The UW-La Crosse women’s soccer team is playing host to the first and second rounds of the NCAA Division III tournament.
The DIII committee made the announcement Monday, after the 11th-ranked Eagles (17-1-1) earned an automatic bid to the NCAAs last weekend, winning the WIAC tournament.
At 1 p.m. Saturday, UW-L will host to unranked UW-Superior (16-5-1) — a team it has never lost to (22-0). The two teams did not play each other this season, as UW-S is not in the WIAC for women’s soccer.
The winner will play at 3 p.m. Sunday against the winner of Simpson and St. Catherine. Neither of those teams is ranked, nor have they played UW-L this season.
This is the Eagles’ third consecutive trip to the playoffs and sixth overall. UW-L is 8-4-3 in tournament history.
Last season, the Eagles got to Round 3, before being eliminated.
