La Crosse native Jordan Davis came off the bench Thursday, played six minutes and went scoreless, as the University of Wisconsin men’s basketball team nearly blew it against Ohio State.

Wisconsin led by 15 with 7:18 remaining before the Buckeyes scored the next 13 points to get within two. The Badgers missed their final nine field goals, before Chucky Hepburn made 3 of 4 free throws in the last 24 seconds hold on 65-60.

Ohio State (11-11) had 16 turnovers but Wisconsin (13-8) hit just 13 of 22 free throws.

The six minutes for Davis was a season low and first time all year he hasn’t played at least 14 minutes. The 6-foot-4 guard has gone scoreless in four of the past seven games.

It’s the second consecutive game Davis hasn’t started and third time in the past five games the junior has come off the bench.
