What’s on the table today?: NFL MVP odds
Over the past two days I’ve looked at Offensive and Defensive ROY odds (Top10 for each) and have given you my thoughts on both. I like Justin Fields to surprise and take the Offensive ROY and I like the value of Broncos CB Patrick Surtain II for Defensive ROY.
Today, we’re going to look at the updated odds for this years’ NFL MVP race thanks to our friends at VegasInsider, and I’ll give you my thoughts as well.
Starting off with Patrick Mahomes at +600 I will say this. He might have a great season, he might have an MVP caliber season, but I don’t think Mahomes will win the MVP. Last season Aaron Rodgers took home the award and was followed (in a not very close race) by Josh Allen. Mahomes will most likely be at the top of this list for years to come, but I don’t see THIS season as his next MVP campaign.
Next up, Aaron Rodgers. Wow did Rodgers have a great season last year, and IF the Packers have any designs to go to a Super Bowl for just the second time in Rodgers’ career, he’s going to NEED to have an MVP season, but I don’t see that happening either.
Right now, coming off the heels of a 13-3 season in Buffalo, second in MVP voting to Aaron Rodgers, and gifted with the 10th easiest schedule in the league in 2021, I like Josh Allen at +1400 to take home the award. Yes, Allen had a magical season but I don’t expect that to be an outlier. I think this kid is on the rise, and this year will be his year.
