La Crosse’s Davis struggles with shot, but hits career high in rebounds, steals as Badgers win in 2OT
It took two jumpers in the final seconds by D’mitrik Trice to force two overtimes, before the University of Wisconsin men’s basketball team finally put away Indiana.
La Crosse native Jonathan Davis didn’t shoot well but, again, did some of the little things to help the No. 8 Badgers win 80-73 at the Kohl Center.
The freshman Davis was 2-for-11 from the field, 0-for-2 from deep, in scoring six points. But he had career highs with eight rebounds, three steals and 41 minutes, which was the third-most on the team.
Wisconsin (10-2, 4-1 Big Ten) pulled away in the second overtime thanks to back-to-back 3-pointers by Tyler Wahl, who finished with a career-high 12 points.
Trice finished with 21 points on 7-of-15 shooting, to go with seven assists.
Next up for the Badgers, a road trip to No. 10 Michigan (10-0, 5-0). The game tips at 6 p.m. Tuesday and is on ESPN.
