Hader gets 9th save, sets MLB record
Josh Hader’s ninth inning save Wednesday got the Brewers a win and the closer an MLB record.
Hader didn’t give up a hit in the 8-5 win last night to get his ninth save. He did plunk the first batter he faced but nobody’s hit him — all season. Opponents have now been hitless against Hader in 12 consecutive appearances, getting the 26-year-old an MLB record.
“I definitely know about it,” Hader said. “Obviously a lot of guys talk about it — especially you guys. But it’s something that, when I’m up on the mound, my job is to get outs. If they get a hit, they get a hit.”
The appearance snapped a three-way tie for the record with Justin Wilson, Scott Aldred, and John Franco.
That’s 9 saves for Josh Hader and 12 consecutive hitless appearances to begin the season, a @MLB record.

While Hader has been hitless, he doesn’t have a zero ERA.
That streak ended Saturday when he gave up five walks and two earned runs in ⅓ of an inning against the Pittsburgh Pirates last Saturday. But no hits, of course.
Hader struck out the side in his next appearance, a save against Pittsburgh on Monday.
Milwaukee has Thursday off before heading to Cleveland for a three-game series.
