Hours before the game, Clippers coach Doc Rivers spoke out about the tragedy.
“It’s just sad, it really is. It’s sad,” Rivers said. “The gun violence, I just don’t know at what point – you can go see a video with JFK talking and he’s talking about my thoughts and prayers are with the families. JFK! When you think about that and think how long ago that was and we’re still saying – the politicians have it on pre-dial now – they say the same thing and we don’t do anything. I like that we voted, it was a big outcome. I think in two years, we got to do it even more.
“I think that’s important to send messages and get things done. I think that’s the only way we can make change right now. But it’s sad. Mental illness is sad, but gun control is sadder.
“And this whole thing about ‘I guess it wasn’t a terrorist attack’ just infuriates me because if that was your child, I bet they think it was a terrorist attack. The guns are the terrorists. Until we understand that, we’re going to keep having terrorist attacks. And it’s sad.”
