1st time in UW-La Crosse history, both men’s and women’s hoops make NCAA tourney
For the first time in University of Wisconsin-La Crosse history, both the men’s and women’s basketball teams qualified for the NCAA Division III tournament in the same season.
The UW-L men (22-5) are ranked No. 5 in the nation as they get set to play Greenville University (20-7) at 6:50 p.m. Friday at the La Crosse Center.
The winner will play at 6:50 p.m. Saturday at the La Crosse Center against either Carthage or St. Norbert, who play at 4:20 p.m. Friday — before the UW-L matchup with Greenville.
The UW-L men’s five losses this season have come to No. 9 Nebraska Wesleyan, No. 3 UW-Platteville three times and No. 11 Calvin by a point.
Meanwhile, the UW-L women (16-11) will be playing at 4:30 p.m. Friday against Colorado College (23-3) at UW-Whitewater. Colorado is ranked just outside the Top 25, and has won 20 consecutive games.
