November 2024’s WKTY donation is to PATCH La Crosse. PATCH stands for Providers and Teens Communicating for Health. They work to improve adolescent health by working alongside and in true partnership with young people in our community as part of Wisconsin PATCH.

Thanks to our sponsors, Kratt Lumber Company and Performance Foodservice, WKTY Cares was proud to make a $1,000 donation to support their work in our community!

PATCH hires youth ages 14-19 to serve as Teen Educators, ultimately bringing youth voices to important adolescent health conversations. Teen Educators promote open, honest, and medically accurate communication between adolescents and their health care providers.

PATCH Teen Educators offer presentations to both health care providers and other youth within the community.

In addition to educating providers and other teens within the community, PATCH Teen Educators regularly participate in enrichment meetings in which they learn about key health-related topics within the La Crosse area that impact adolescent health and health outcomes.

La Crosse PATCH has 12 Teen Educators this year, representing Holmen, Onalaska, and La Crosse School Districts, as well as La Crosse Polytechnic School.

The PATCH for Providers Workshop is a one-of-a-kind experience offering health professionals and other adults the opportunity to learn how to better serve adolescents from THEIR perspective.

The PATCH for Teens: Peer-to-Peer Workshop empowers youth to begin managing their own health care and equips them with the knowledge and skills needed to navigate and advocate for youth-friendly services.
