For 97th time, Central and Logan battle for the Ark — with the MVC championship on the line
For the 97th time in Central and Logan high school history, the two football teams will battle Friday for the Ark.
The Riverhawks have won the Ark six of the last seven times,
But it isn’t just the Ark that’s on the line between the intra-city rivals. There’s also a Mississippi Valley Conference championship for the taking, as the Rangers host the Riverhawks — a game that will stream on WKTY.
HOW TO WATCH WKTY GAMES

After starting the season 1-3, Central (5-3, 5-1) has rattled off four consecutive, convincing wins and could take the MVC title outright Friday, while Logan (6-2, 4-2) could grab a share of the crown with some help.
Last week, Central continued its explosive offensive output, racing to a 21-0 lead over Sparta before comfortably winning 48-28.
All season, Central’s Jude Alvarado has slowly been making his way into the lineup after an off-season injury. The quarterback, however, was forced to play last week’s entire second half when Christian Rudrud was injured. Alvarado finished 5-for-7 for 69 yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Logan will try to bounce back from a 17-14 overtime loss to Holmen.
The Rangers were shutout in the first half before scoring 14 unanswered points in the fourth, including a tying touchdown pass with under a minute remaining.
A lot of scenarios at play for the MVC crown in this last week of regular-season football.
If Logan wins and Reedsburg beats Holmen — plus an Onalaska win over Tomah — there would be a five-way tie for first in the MVC.
But, if Logan and Holmen both win, the Vikings take the conference outright.
Holmen and Central would both tie for first with wins, as well.
