The Holmen High School football team has already clinched its first winning season since the five-game COVID spring season of 2021.

Now the Vikings (5-1, 4-0) head to a Central team Thursday that, too, has been on fire of late.

Holmen is both playing for an MVC championship, plus improved playoff seeding as the season winds down.

The Vikings haven’t lost since Week 1, 26-13 to Medford, and have outscored its last three opponents 135-7.

But they’ll have to slow down a Central (3-3, 3-1) offense that has averaged 41 points in its last three games.

The Vikings signature triple-option has excelled this year thanks in part to quarterback Alex Berget, who has thrown for four touchdowns and no interceptions, as well as having rushed for 345 yards and another six scores.
