Two Milwaukee Brewers fielders and a former Brewers pitcher were named to the MLB all-star team.

Catcher William Contreras and outfielder Christian Yelich were named starters for the 94th all-star game, which begins at 7 p.m. July 16.

It’s been Yelich’s best offensive season since 2018 and ’19, which saw him win one NL MVP Award and finish second in voting for another.

The 32-year-old is hitting .329 with 11 home runs and 19 stolen bases. Yelich hasn’t hit over .300 since 2018 and ’19. He’s also on pace to steal the most bases of his career. He had 30 in 2019, when he had career-highs in hitting (.329) and home runs (44).

Meanwhile, the 26-year-old Contreras is hitting .297 with 10 homers and 51 RBI. Contreras was last an all-star in 2022 for the Atlanta Braves, before being traded to Milwaukee.

Speaking of trades, former Brewers pitcher and Cy Young winner Corbin Burnes was named an all-star for the Baltimore Orioles. Burnes, who won the Cy Young in 2021, is headed to his fourth all-star game.

He has a 2.32 ERA with 105 strikeouts in 112.2 innings. Burnes is 9-3. Oddly enough, the 29-year-old has never won more than 12 games in a season. He’s won 10, 11 and 12 games in each of his last three seasons.
