Junior Kaiden Wilber scored 20 points in leading the 15th-seeded Holmen High School boys basketball team to a 73-49 win over No. 18 Appleton West in the first round of the Division 1 playoffs Tuesday.

Wilber was 7-for-12 from the field, including 3 of 4 from deep for the Vikings (13-12), who will play at 7 p.m. Friday at sixth-ranked and top-seeded Stevens Point (21-3).

Just to compare, the Terrors (1-24) lost back in early December to Stevens Point 69-34.

Holmen, which has won eight consecutive games and 11 of its past 12 since starting the season 2-11, was 9-for-23 (39.1%) from beyond the arc and hit 18 of 20 free throws.

Meanwhile, No. 4 Onalaska (18-6) — which is ranked ninth in the final Division 2 poll and had a first-round bye — will host fifth-seeded New London (15-8) at 7 p.m. Friday night and will stream on WKTY.
