Meeker scores 18 to lead UW-La Crosse in WIAC tourney first-round win over UW-P
Kailee Meeker had 18 points, seven rebounds in leading the UW-La Crosse women’s basketball team to a first-round win in the WIAC tournament.
The fifth-seeded Eagles beat No. 4 Platteville 81-71, and now head to top-seeded and 14th-ranked UW-Oshkosh for Wednesday’s semifinals.
Meeker was 7-for-16 from the field for UW-L (13-13), which got up 10-2 to start and went on another 10-2 run in the fourth to put the game away.
UW-P (14-12) was outscored 31-9 off the bench and was held to just 35.5% shooting from the field.
The Eagles lost both times to UW-O (21-4) this season — 68-54 on Jan. 17 and 64-55 last Wednesday.
