La Crosse native Lexi Donarski had seven points, two rebounds, two assists, two steals and two turnovers, as the 24th-ranked North Carolina women’s basketball team fell to No. 5 NC State 63-59.
It was a weird end of the game, where Donarski hit Reniya Kelly for a 3-pointer with 3:45 remaining to pull the Tar Heels (15-7, 7-3 ACC) within 62-59.
And that was kind of it. Neither team scored until the Wolfpack (19-2, 7-2) took advantage of a Donarski turnover with 10 seconds to go, then made 1 of 2 free throws to seal it.
Donarski finished 3-for-8 from the field and 1 of 5 from deep.
North Carolina hosts No. 17 Virginia Tech at 11 a.m. Sunday on ESPN2.
