Giannis tweets #Extended, as reports indicate two-time MVP re-ups with Bucks for 3 years
In August, Giannis Antetokounmpo indicated his future with the Milwaukee Bucks wasn’t certain, unless he saw a commitment from the team that it wanted to win titles.
Less than a month ago, Antetokounmpo somewhat joked about wanting to hold out on signing a max contract extension until next season, because he could make more money.
If NBA salary projections hold, the 28-year-old would make $80 million more, in fact.
Turns out, though, Antetokounmpo was joking and a Damian Lillard trade must have showed him enough commitment.
At 5:30 p.m. Monday, he tweeted #Extended, as reports show the two-time MVP signed a three-year, $186 million extension ahead of the midnight deadline.

In 2020, Antetokounmpo signed a five-year, $228.2 million supermax contract, which would have kept him in Milwaukee through at least 2024-25.
This new deal, which includes a player option at the end, will keep Antetokounmpo with the Bucks through 2027-28.
The extension comes after the Bucks, of course, traded for Lillard and re-signed Khris Middleton and Brook Lopez.
Those four are signed through next season, while Antetokounmpo and Lillard are under contract through the final year of Lillard’s contract (2026-27).
