La Crosse’s Davis goes for 6 points, 8 rebounds, as Badgers beat Oregon in NIT quarters
EUGENE, Ore. (AP) — A late 3-pointer, then free throws in the final minute gave the University of Wisconsin men’s basketball team a 61-58 win at Oregon in the NIT on Tuesday.
Chucky Hepburn hit that 3-pointer with 55.4 seconds remaining. Wisconsin (20-14) now advances to the semifinals in Las Vegas against North Texas on March 28.
La Crosse native Jordan Davis had six points and eight rebounds in 19 minutes off the bench for the Badgers. The junior was 2-for-5 from the field and 1 of 3 from deep.
Max Klesmit led with 18 points for UW, which shot an abysmal 33 percent from the field (21 of 63).
The Ducks (21-15) were led by Keeshawn Barthelemy, who posted 15 points and six rebounds. Quincy Guerrier added 14 points, eight rebounds and three blocks for Oregon.
