WATCH: Central, Onalaska battle for regional championship
The rubber match between Central and Onalaska high school boys basketball teams Saturday night will also have a regional championship on the line, and an opportunity to get another step closer to state.
The road team won both games in the regular season, with the Riverhawks and Hilltoppers sharing the MVC crown.
Central (20-5) is on an 11-game winning streak, including a 19-point victory over Onalaska. The Riverhawks are led in scoring by Nic Williams with 17 points a game, while Bennett Fried and Henry Meyer each average over 15.
Onalaska (19-5) rebounded from the Central defeat by closing out the regular season with two decisive victories over Menomonie and Holmen. Evan Anderson averages over 18 points per game for the Hilltoppers.
