Despite falling behind 14-0 on Saturday, the Winona State University football team rushed for 197 yards — 150 of those from sophomore Ty Gavin on 27 carries — and pulled out a 25-17 win over the University of Mary.
WSU coach Brian Bergstrom explained to WKTY’s Grant Bilse that, despite the early deficit, his players understood that riding the running game was their best chance for a win.
The Warriors are now 2-0 heading into Saturday’s 2 p.m. game at Bemidji State (0-2).
