Coming off a double-double Wednesday night, it looks like the Milwaukee Bucks are going to waive DeMarcus Cousins before his contract becomes guaranteed Friday.

That, according to Bucks general manager Jon Horst on ESPN, as the NBA has a Friday deadline to guarantee non-guaranteed contracts for the rest of the season.

While Cousins — one a 1-year, $2 million contract — has been solid, Horst says he wants the ability to have an open roster spot ahead of the Feb. 10 trade deadline.

The 31-year-old Cousins averaged 8.7 points on 45.5% shooting to go with 5.5 rebounds in 16.7 minutes over 17 games.

Cousins had 15 points, 10 rebounds and three steals in Wednesday night’s loss to the Toronto Raptors.
