What’s on the table today?: Betting Trends for Brewers/Cubs & Dodgers/Phillies
Wednesday Night baseball features three of the hottest teams in the Major League’s, the Brewers, Dodgers, and don’t-look-now Phillies.
Milwaukee is on the road versus a “Triple-A” type Cubs team while the Dodgers are in Philadelphia for a date with the Phillies who are on an absolute tear winning 8 of their last 10.
The Brewers are currently (-150) tonight versus the Cubs, and that seems like relatively low vig when you consider these recent trends:
- Brewers are 6-0 in their last 6 road games vs. a team with a winning home record
- Brewers are 8-1 in their last 9 vs. National League Central
- Cubs are 0-7 in Arrieta’s last 7 starts
- Cubs are 0-6 in their last 6 home games
- Cubs are 0-6 in their last 6 home games vs. a team with a winning record
The Dodgers are currently the favored in tonight’s game versus Philly (-132), but considering that David Price is getting the start, and the recent trends when Price does start, I’d lean a little bit to the Phillies in this spot.
Los Angeles is:
- 0-6 in Price’s last six starts
- 0-4 in Price’s last four starts with four days of rest
Philadelphia is:
- 8-0 in its last eight games
- 4-0 in its last four home games
Milwaukee should easily win this game, so I have no problem laying the (-150) in this spot. The Dodgers, as a favorite tonight, scare me a bit with Philly playing just crazy good ball right now. However, the Dodgers do, on paper, have the best lineup in the MLB. That’s a tough call at (-132), I’d take the Phillies tonight.
