NFL may do its own investigation now

MILWAUKEE (AP) Green Bay Packers tight end Andrew Quarless has been sentenced to a year of probation and fined $1,000 for firing a gun in Miami Beach, Fla., back in July.

The judge also ordered Quarless to take an anger management class and a firearms safety class, and to forfeit the gun. The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports Quarless’ probation can be cut to six months if he complies with conditions.

Quarless was scheduled to go to trial Nov. 30 on the misdemeanor charge of discharging a firearm in public. Instead, his attorney entered a no-contest plea on Quarless’ behalf.

Quarless returned to practice that day after being out with an injured left knee.

With the court case over, defense attorney Edward O’Donnell says the NFL is now expected to do its own investigation.
