Aquinas baseball looking for back-to-back state championships
The Aquinas High School baseball team, which has won 20 of its last 21 games, begins a run for a second consecutive state title Wednesday — albeit from a different division.
After winning the Division 3 title last year, the Blugolds are back at state for a third consecutive season. This time, however, they’ll be playing in Division 2.
At 9 a.m. Wednesday from the Fox Cities Stadium, No. 2-seeded Aquinas (23-3) plays No. 3 Seymour.
The winner will play in the championship at 3 p.m. Thursday against either No. 1 New Berlin Eisenhower or fourth-seeded Reedsburg.
To get to state, Aquinas won a pair of one-run games in the sectional, including 6-5 over Mosinee, which won last year’s Division 2 state title.
Last season, Aquinas beat Kenosha St. Joseph 6-4 to win state. The Blugolds were runners-up in 2023.
