Aquinas on fire in winning 5th state championship in school history
Trey Bahr was 9-for-11 and teammates Calvin Bahr and Logan Becker both shot 7 of 11 in leading the Aquinas High School boys basketball team to a blowout win for a Division 4 state championship Saturday.
The Blugolds beat top-seeded Bonduel 74-45 at the Kohl Center to win their first title since 2013 and fifth WIAA championship overall (2003, 2008, 2011, 2013).
Those three combined to score 41 — 20 coming from Trey Bahr — as Aquinas (26-3) shot 58.5% from the field (65.5% in the first half). He also had nine assists, five rebounds, a steal and just one turnover.
The Blugolds were up 45-27 at halftime, after nailing 7 of 13 from beyond the arc.
They also held Bonduel (28-2) to just 32.1% shooting for the game — outscoring them 32-16 in the paint and 20-6 on fast breaks.
