The UWL Womens’s Basketball team earns a trip to the DIII Championship tournament.
The Eagles got one of the 21 at-large bids on Monday.
They’ll take their 16-11 record to UW-Whitewater for their first-round game.
The Eagles face Colorado College at 4:30 p.m. Friday.
UWL comes into the game off a 59-47 loss to Oshkosh on February 27 in the WIAC Tournament semifinals.
Friday’s game is the first playoff contest since 2020.
Overall, it’s the team’s sixth trip to the tournament. Previous visits were in 1983, 1984, 1988, 2011, and most recently in 2020.
Wins are hard to come by for the team. According to the university, the last win was in 1988.
Colorado College comes to Wisconsin having their most successful season ever at 23-3.
This is their second time they’ve made the NCAA tournament. Their first was in 1990.
The winner of the game plays the winner of the UW-Whitewater and Principia College contest on Saturday night at 7 p.m.
