Onalaska’s Donarski scores 10, as No. 12 North Carolina beats 10th-ranked NC State in final seconds
RALEIGH, N.C. — Onalaska native Lexi Donarski scored 10 points, as the No. 12 North Carolina women’s basketball team beat 10th-ranked NC State by one point with a pair of free throws in the final seconds in front of a sellout crowd of 6,319.
Grace Townsend’s pair from the stripe with 5.2 seconds gave the Tar Heels the 66-65 win at home Sunday — a game that was on ESPN. The Wolfpack didn’t get a shot off on their final possession.
Donarski, who was just 3-for-11, nailed a 3-pointer with 2:17 remaining to pull North Carolina (23-4) within 60-57.
The teams then exchanged 3-pointers and NC State went up 65-60 with 1:32 remaining, before the Tar Heels came back to win, scoring on three consecutive possessions.
