UW-La Crosse’s Jarrett, Blaskowski both break their own NCAA records
For the second time, UW-La Crosse sprinters Lauren Jarrett and Sam Blaskowski each broke their own 60-meter dash NCAA records.
After setting a new top mark two weeks ago, Jarrett, on Saturday, broke her own NCAA Division III record with a 7.34-second finish at the Mark Guthrie Legacy Invitational at the Hetzel Fieldhouse.
And on the men’s side, Blaskowski did the same thing, breaking his 60-meter record with 6.62-second finish. His old record (6.64) was set during the indoor season, last year.
Teammate Anna Plautz set a UW-L record winning the 400 in 56.63 seconds. That broke Jenna Halvorson’s 2014 mark of 56.67.
Jarrett helped lead UW-L to both indoor and outdoor NCAA championships last year. She won the 60 crown during the indoor season and took second in both the 100 and 200 and third in the 400 hurdles in outdoor.
UW-L returns to action Friday at Minnesota State University.
