Onalaska’s Donarski scores 5, as No. 13 North Carolina holds off Clemson
Onalaska native Lexi Donarski had five points, as the No. 13 North Carolina women’s basketball team held off Clemson, 53-51.
A layup by NC’s Maria Gakdeng tied the game 51-51 with 2 minutes left and Reniya Kelly’s jumper was the eventual winner at the 42-second mark.
In the last 2 minutes, Clemson (11-13) had more turnovers (3) than shot attempts (2).
Donarski, in her final collegiate season, was just 2-for-7 and 1 of 5 from deep for NC (21-4). She added three rebounds, an assist and had a turnover in 35 minutes.
It’s just the second single-digit scoring game for the shooting guard in her past seven contests.
Next up, the Tar Heels host Virginia tech (16-8) at 6 p.m. Thursday, before a Sunday matchup on ESPN against No. 14 NC State (19-4).
