For the first time in over a decade, one Wisconsin nature organization is getting ready to have a statewide convention in La Crosse.
The Wisconsin Wetlands Association (WWA) brought its yearly gathering to the La Crosse Center back in 2014. Now, the group has scheduled a three-day event at the center for Feb. 25-27.
The WWA said its science conference will be based on the theme: “Exploring the Confluence,” as it meets where the Mississippi, Black, and La Crosse rivers come together.
The Explore La Crosse bureau announced the wetlands conference this week.
The WWA also plans to bring members of Wisconsin Trout Unlimited to the conference to discuss ways to improve and restore wetlands and streams.
More than 350 people from Wisconsin and other states are expected to attend group meetings and workshops during the event.
According to a news release, more than 75 percent of wildlife in Wisconsin depend on wetlands, during some time in their lives.
