Badgers squeak into Elite Eight, will face nemesis Nebraska to see who gets back to Final Four; Marquette falls to Penn St.
The University of Wisconsin volleyball team is a win away from getting back to the Final Four for a second consecutive season.
To do that, however, the No. 7-ranked Badgers are going to have to take down a Nebraska team that’s swept them twice already this season.
Wisconsin (26-6) beat Texas A&M 3-2 on Friday to advance to the Elite Eight. The Badgers face the third-ranked Cornhuskers at 2 p.m. Sunday for a bid to the Final Four.
Last year, Wisconsin lost in the national semifinals 3-1 to Texas, which went on to beat Nebraska 3-0 for the championship.
On the other half of the bracket, Marquette’s season ended 3-1 to No. 2-ranked Penn State.
The Golden Eagles had never gotten to the Elite Eight, after being in the Sweet 16 two other times (2018, 2022).
