WINONA, Minn. — Cotter High School girls basketball coach Pat Bowlin got his 700th career win on Thursday night with a 57-33 win over La Crescent/Hokah.

It comes nearly five years after picking up win No. 600 on Nov. 30, 2019.

Bowlin, who began coaching girls basketball at St. Bernard’s in 1983, took over at Cotter in 1991.

Bowlin currently sits fourth all-time in Minnesota for coaching wins in the sport.

He could catch Wendy Kohler for third place, depending on how her Alexandria team finishes out the year. Currently, she has 705 wins, as her team has started 3-1 this season.

Bowlin needs 20 wins to catch longtime rival Myron Glass, who coached Rochester Lourdes until 2014. Glass has 719 career wins.

Bowlin would need a miracle to become the all-time winningest girls basketball coach. Mike Dreier keeps adding to his 1,071 wins, as his New London-Spicer team has started the season 3-0.

Bowlin is Minnesota’s winningest high school softball coach with over 800, which he accomplished last season.

Former players put together this video as a tribute for that incredible accomplishment.
