Wisconsin, Marquette, Minnesota volleyball all win in first round of NCAA tourney
The seventh-ranked University of Wisconsin volleyball team had no problem in the first round of the NCAA tournament, sweeping Fairfield 3-0 Friday night at the UW Field House.
All Round 2 games appear to be on ESPN+. Later round will make it to actual stations
The Badgers (24-6) play No. 19 Georgia Tech (21-9) at 7 p.m. Friday in Round 2.
Wisconsin made it to the Final Four last year, losing to eventual national champion Texas 3-1. The Longhorns beat Nebraska 3-0 for the title.
Meanwhile, Marquette — ranked just outside the Top 25 — had no problems getting out of the first round last night with a 3-0 win over Florida Gulf Coast.
The Golden Eagles play 17th-ranked Utah at 7:30 Friday.
And, across the Mississippi River, 15th-ranked Minnesota squeaked out a 3-1 win over Western Kentucky and plays in Round 2 at 6 p.m. Friday against Kentucky.
