Ahead of matchup with No. 11 Badgers, fifth-ranked Marquette falls on road to No. 6 Iowa State
Two days ago, it looked as though two unbeaten men’s basketball teams in Wisconsin, ranked fifth and 11th in the nation, were going to meet up in Milwaukee for an epic game.
Then No. 11 Wisconsin fell to unranked Michigan 67-64 on Tuesday, before fifth-ranked Marquette fell to No. 6 Iowa State 81-70 a day later on the road.
Kam Jones couldn’t get it going for the Golden Eagles (8-1), scoring 14 points on just 6-for-21 shooting from the field. Royce Parham had 17 to lead Marquette, which allowed the Cyclones (6-1) go to on a 14-0, second-half run to break open the game.
The Badgers (8-1) head to Marquette for a 12:30 p.m. matchup Saturday on Fox. ISU’s only loss came 83-81 last week to No. 4 Auburn.
