Brewers phenom Jackson Chourio finished 3rd for Rookie of the Year
Milwaukee Brewers phenomenal outfielder Jackson Chourio finished third in the NL Rookie of the Year voting.
The 20-year-old, who went 20-20 this season, was beat out by Pittsburgh Pirates righty, Paul Skenes, who is also a Cy Young candidate, and San Diego Padres centerfielder Jackson Merrill.
For Chourio, who signed a record-breaking $82 million contract extension with the Brewers about a year ago, despite having never played in the major leagues, it could be argued he was the team’s best player this season.

Chourio was the youngest player in the MLB, who started slow but finished strong. In the playoffs, he had five hits and three RBI in the wild-card loss to the Mets. In the Game 2 win, he hit two home runs — the fifth-youngest player in MLB history to do so in the postseason.
Chourio finished hitting .275 with 21 homers, 22 stolen bases and 79 RBI to go along with a .791 OPS.
As for Skenes, who was the top pick in the 2023 amateur draft, the 22-year-old finished 11-3 with a 1.96 ERA in 23 starts. He struck out 170 and walked 32 in 133 innings.
He received 23 first-place votes for 136 points while Merrill had seven firsts and 104 points. Chourio had 26 points.
